Amma’s special clinical interests are the management of pregnancies complicated by maternal medical disorder and pre-pregnancy counselling. She is a fully trained physician and also deals with medical disorders affecting gynaecology including polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and reproductive medicine, and is experienced in transvaginal pelvic ultrasound for gynaecology patients.

She is a member of the NHS Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia Screening Advisory Group and the NHS Haemoglobinopathy Advisory Group. She recently led the development of the new Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists national guidelines on the management of thalassaemia in pregnancy.
