In Short
Window Blind cords are a strangulation hazard to babies and young children.

Once babies become more mobile they can clamber out of the cot, and get tangled up in the blind cord and lose consciousness very quickly because it the cord will be pressing against the windpipe.

A simple top tip will prevent this happening.

Blind Safety for Babies

Blind cords are a strangulation hazard to babies and young children. Even when babies are quite small if their cot is pushed up against a window they can actually get tangled up in the blind cord and strangle.

Once babies become more mobile they might clamber out of the cot, up on the sofa and again get tangled up in the blind cord and actually lose consciousness very quickly because it the cord will be pressing against the windpipe.

The good news is it’s a really simple accident to prevent. Get into the habit each time you open or close the blind, to tie the blind cord up out of the way of your baby.
